Extra Director Details

When forming a new limited company it has always been a requirement to provide specific information for the company register -

  • Name of the director or secretary
  • Full residential address

Directors also need to provide-

  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Occupation

The Companies Act 2006 now requires more information for company officers. From 1 October 2009 company directors will now provide the following additional information-

Natural Directors now need to provide their country of residence

Corporate Directors and Corporate Secretaries now have to provide more details relating to the company that is being appointed.

Companies House now need to know if the corporate entity is within the European Economic Area (EEA) or if they fall outside of the EEA.
If your are appointing an EEA company as an officer, you will need to provide -

  • Company Name
  • Place of registration (the country, for example France, Germany, Spain)
  • Registration number
  • Forename and Surname of the authorised person involved with the company. The authorised person is the person that is acting on behalf of the corporate body.

If you are appointing a non EEA company (i.e. a company that is registered outside of the EEA) as an officer you will need to provide -

  • Company Name
  • Place of registration (the country, for example USA, Mexico, New Zealand))
  • Registration number
  • Legal form (for example in the USA they may be an LLC)
  • Which law governs this company?
  • Forename and Surname of the authorised person
